Predating the formation of the BELC, the Sr. A (Major) Brampton Excelsiors first played in 1871 making the team one of the oldest professional sports franchises in North America. In their 150+ year history, the team has captured 11 Mann Cup championship. After the apparent sale of the team in 2018 a push by the membership and Excelsiors supporters showed the sale was not carried out with the proper consents, resulting in the OLA recognizing the BELC as the owners of the team once again.
